01 / RECOVERY SYSTEM

RECOVERY IS
MORE THAN
A MASSAGE.

Good recovery is the unseen part of preparing for the next match.

Sleep, hydration, nutrition, load management, active recovery and pain monitoring work together. Instead of presenting one technique as a miracle, the goal is a sustainable system that helps the footballer notice change early.

01

READ THE LOAD

See matches, training, travel and rest as one connected weekly workload.

02

PROTECT THE BASICS

Sleep, hydration, nutrition and planned rest remain the non-negotiable foundation of recovery.

03

TRACK THE SIGNAL

Monitor new pain, loss of movement or recurring discomfort without hiding or delaying it.

04

CHOOSE THE RIGHT FIELD

Understand when orthopaedics, sports medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation or physiotherapy may be relevant.

02 / MATCH WEEK

90 MINUTES END.
RECOVERY BEGINS.

Each phase has a different purpose. The approach is shaped by the athlete's load and any licensed healthcare assessment.

PRE / MATCH01

BEFORE THE MATCH

Preparation is more than massage. Dynamic warm-up, sleep, hydration and individual load management work together. Brief, light massage may support a subjective sense of readiness for some athletes; it does not replace warm-up or healthcare assessment.

POST / 72H02

AFTER THE MATCH

During the first 24–72 hours, perceived fatigue and muscle soreness are monitored before the next load. When appropriately planned, sports massage may help reduce perceived soreness, support flexibility and relaxation, and improve the athlete's sense of recovery.

RETURN / PLAY03

RETURN TO PLAY

Return after injury should be criteria-led, not calendar-led. Diagnosis, treatment and return-to-play decisions belong only to licensed healthcare professionals; consulting does not replace those decisions.

03 / EVIDENCE-LED RECOVERY

MASSAGE IN RECOVERY:
SCIENTIFIC SUPPORT.

Sports massage is a valuable component of post-match and post-training recovery. Systematic reviews report that massage may help reduce delayed-onset muscle soreness and perceived fatigue while supporting flexibility and subjective recovery. Reviews in professional football also identify massage among the methods that may support perceptual recovery during the first 72 hours after a match. Timing, appropriate intensity and the athlete's current needs matter.

Massage is one part of a complete recovery system planned alongside sleep, hydration, nutrition and load management.
